Kikk Festival 2019
Happy new year!
Thinking about last year, one of my highlights within the design world was helping out at the Kikk Festival in Namur, Belgium.
I was assisting at exhibition spaces and conferences and met some interesting people. Highly impressive and inspiring were the speeches
of international artists and designers working on innovative projects, exploring the digital capabilites and boundries.
In this crowd I sat (let me know if you find me) and witnessed some wonderful talks. It's where Stefan Sagmeister told us his story about Happiness, made the whole audience laugh and even sing karaoke to a Beethoven symphany with funny lyrics about annoying clients.
Darsha Hewitt made some beautiful artwork out of old machines.
Claudio Agosti talking about the limitations and bias of Algorithm.
Aaron Duffy on illusion in design.
Marshmallow Laser Fesst speaking about VR, its educational potential and the responsibilities we carry as designers.
One example of the exhibition spaces.
And Namur has some lovely old buildings in the center.
And I was glad to have formed part of such an event.

Recycling: does it really make a difference?
I want to make this into a little animation. To raise awareness. About plastic and recycling. Stay tuned.
Design Sprints
My interest in UX / UI and Product Design just keeps growing and since I haven't signed up to a 'physical' course yet - I'm doing online courses and research to see what is happening out there. Here is a quote from Jens Riegelsberger (UX Director at Google) on the power of Design Sprints:
"I believe that the best ideas come from diversity of thought and bold approaches to problem solving,
where masters (teachers) and young professionals (students) stand on equal footing in order to break
down communication and collaboration barriers that hierarchy can bring. Sprints are the ideal setting
for everyone to become a creator — independent of title or seniority, we all get our hands dirty."

On another note, I've started to redesign the Filmoteca project that is my platform basis for my Product Design course I'm working through online. It's very rich in content, thus I'm advancing slowly yet I feel like I learn alot. Also I'm rereading "Don't make me think!" by Steve Krug, which is quite old now and yet, the basics of intuitive design, are still applicable today.
